Instead of making a New Years resolution, my mom and her sisters have borrowed an idea from Ali Edwards. They have decided to think of one little word they can focus on, mediate on, and reflect upon as they go about their daily lives. It can be something tangible or intangible; a feeling or an emotion; singular or plural. The key is to find something that has personal meaning for you. This is not your mother's word or your spouse's word or your child's word - this is YOUR word.
My word for 2008 is present: (adj) existing or happening now; attentive; actually here or involved
This word actually has two meanings for me. (1) Working during the day leaves me with such little time to spend quality time with my family. With Aiden growing so quickly, I need to be more conscientious about being as involved with him (and my husband) as I can. (2) A continuous challenge for me is to do things now and not put them off until I get all stressed out about their urgency. I am going to work to finish my tasks promptly so I can be more efficient with part one.
What is your little word for the New Year? Share it with me, your friends, and your family - why you chose it and what it means you.

I chose calm . . .
calm (adj) freedom from agitation; tranquillity; serenity
It is definitely time for me to calm down and not let things, especially those that I have no control over, get to me.
